Our vision is a world in which social change organisations in the UK are making full, responsible use of data science to aid their work and increase their impact. Help us get there

How can you partner with us?

DataKind UK is supported by a range of British companies and foundations, without which we could not transform the impact of the social sector

Sponsor a DataDive Project

At our two-day DataDive weekends, we bring groups of volunteers together with a small number of charities to solve their data challenges, and demonstrate the value of data science for their organisation. These events are high-energy, full of enthusiasm and plenty of community spirit (think of a 'Hackathon-for-good'). DataDive weekends offer the opportunity to engage your employees in an experience that uses their skills to provide meaningful - and often transformational - help to the charities involved.

Sponsor a DataCorps

We also run longer-term, more advanced data science projects, where we partner with a charity over six to nine months. We begin by working with the nonprofit to define the problem and scope the project. We then select a group of accomplished pro bono data scientists from our network, and carefully manage the project through to completion. Previous DataCorps projects have ranged from developing predictive analytics on which beneficiaries are most vulnerable, to developing a prototype dashboard for emerging social issues based on multiple real-time data sources. We are always looking for financial support for these intensive engagements, which may range from donating volunteer time with matching funding, to deeper levels of sponsorship (for example, if the charity involved in the project is your company's chosen charity-of-the-year).

Sponsor a meetup or workshop

We bring our community together for networking and presentations on data for good projects, as well as workshops for charities. These involve bringing volunteers together with a group of charities for a two-hour brainstorming and knowledge sharing session on the charities' key data questions. For example, at a Citigroup-sponsored Project Accelerator evening, we brought together charity staff from Mind, Turning Point, the National Council for Palliative Care, and the Libraries Taskforce. We provided a safe and creative space where the organisations could pick data analysts’ brains for an evening and solve specific data problems they were facing.

Staff volunteering and matched funding

Your staff can sign up to volunteer on an individual basis with us by signing up to receive our newsletter and applying for our regular volunteering opportunities. We encourage volunteers to seek matched funding from their employers for time devoted to DataKind UK engagements.

Core funding

Though corporate sponsorship is invaluable, we also rely on funding from other sources (such as grant funding) to support a significant portion of our organisation's ongoing work. We gladly accept donations of any size from companies and groups of employees keen to support the data-for-good movement and the activities of DataKind UK.
