Welcome Nicole!

Nicole is DataKind UK’s Communications Officer and ensures the world knows as much as possible about their work and impact. She has been working as a charity communicator for more than six years, with a background in literature and journalism. Before joining DataKind she worked for homelessness fundraiser Church Homeless Trust.

What were you up to before DataKind?

I’ve been in charity communications for about six years, with an organisation called Church Homeless Trust, who raise funds to help homeless people across England. I was also part of an anti-eviction campaign in Walthamstow, and have been volunteering on the communications team of Sunday Assembly London for about a year.

Why are you excited to join DataKind?

They are doing work in a somewhat neglected space, uniting charities and nonprofits with data scientists, and trying to do that with ethics in mind (as I understand it thus far!). I’m looking forward to helping the third sector catch up with digital behemoths and help data be used as a force for good.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Bargain hunting in charity shops, cycling around the many parks of London, and singing in a choir — I’m also always up for a karaoke night!
